All applications for Christmas Assistance are due by Nov. 4th. This year you have the option of mailing your application with the copies of your verification papers to us or dropping it off at The American Legion Post 44 at 1633 Cleveland Ave. N.W. The drop off times are only on Wednesday, Nov.2 from 1:00P.M.-4:00P.M., and Thursday, Nov.3rd and Friday, Nov.4th from 9:00A.M.-12:00P.M. THE AMERICAN LEGION DOES NOT PROCESS ANY ACC APPLICATIONS. DO NOT TAKE YOUR APPLICATION INSIDE THE BUILDING OR MAIL IT TO THEM.
We will only be using the back parking lot at The American legion. DO NOT GO IN THE FRONT ENTRANCE! Directions are as follows: Take Cleveland Ave. N.W. to 14thSt. Head West on 14th St. to Shorb Ave. Turn Right. Turn right into the marked Entrance into The American Legion back parking lot. Hand your application in an envelope to a Community Christmas Volunteer. Leave through the marked Exit. Turn right to leave to get to 17th Street. Then take 17th St. to turn right to Cleveland Ave. or whatever direction you need to go.
ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE FILLED OUT AND COMPLETED IN ADVANCE. THIS IS ONLY A DROP OFF SITE! No extra applications will be available. You must print your application from this web site, completely fill it out, copy the necessary documents for proof of verification, then either mail the application to us or drop it off at The American Legion by Nov.4th. Verification papers include: a Photo ID for each adult; a medical card, Social Security card, or birth certificate for each child, and a current utility bill with your name and current address. There will be no in person application interviews taking place, only this drop off service for completed applications. There is also NO COPIER for us to copy your papers. Libraries will help you print the application or make copies of your verification papers.
